In the middle of last month I collected a heap of switches hanging around my office and in a few store rooms and decided to test them to see what’s working and what’s not.
I ended up with 6 HP ProCurve switches (models: 2124, 2224, 2524, 2624) which had kicked the bucket in one way or another. I was going to salvage the modules from them and chuck them out, however a colleague of mine suggested I call up HP first and see what they can offer in terms of warranty. So I did just this.
I discovered through HP to my surprise that the switches are under a 100 year parts-only warranty until 2106 or so.
After handing a heap of information about the symptoms and issues the switches were having, I ended up receiving 6 fully refurbished switches from HP upon the terms I return the faulty switches.
So it goes without saying – check the warranty on your old faulty equipment before you chuck it (it really should be common sense anyway I guess).
